You can also fly to Kuala Lumpur from Koh Samui on Pelangi Air – Thu/Sun only and Bangkok Airways fly most days to Singapore direct. When leaving Samui Airport there is a 400B Airport tax for domestic flights and 500B for international flights. For more info go to http://www.bangkokair.com/
There are many trains running from Bangkok’s Hualamphong Station to Suratthani and back. The Suratthani train station is approx 1 hour from the ferry pier to catch a boat over to Koh Samui.. For timetable info go to http://www.railway.co.th/eng.
Bangkok to Samui buses leave from the Southern Bus Terminal. Buy a bus/boat combination ticket (approx 450B and takes approx 12 hrs) from the bus terminal or from any Travel Agency. The best buses are any V.I.P bus as they have reclining seats.
There are 2 ferry piers in Suratthani and the only difference is that they are run by different companies, Songserm and Seatran. Ferries leave these piers for Nathon in Koh Samui every hour from 6am to 7pm. Please note these services are often disrupted/cancelled on a daily basis in Oct-Dec subject to sea conditions.
